Academic Enrichment
Staff at Iona Presentation College work diligently to meet the individual needs of each student. In partnership with families, our highly qualified staff consider each child's overall abilities and interests to provide programs which aim to extend identified strengths, gifts and talents.
In the early years, there is a focus on divergent and innovative thinking, applying thinking strategies such as Tony Ryan's Thinker's Keys and De Bono's Six Hats.
Our Challenge Program for Years 3 to 6 students is aimed at developing critical and creative thinking skills to enhance problem solving capabilities.
In Years 5 and 6, students have the opportunity to participate in the Opti-Minds and the Future Problem Solving programs. Iona has had remarkable success in both of these programs in recent years, receiving state, national and international representation, honours and acclaim.
Both campuses offer a Makerspace area for all students in their libraries. A makerspace is a place where your child can 'make' things – with code, origami, cardboard, craft materials, robots, and much more! The Makerspace is a space for tinkering, building, and hands-on creative projects which foster your child's interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and the Arts.
In the Senior School, all learning areas also provide opportunities for your daughter to enrich their learning experiences in a range of Co-curricular groups.
